

Between the mountains Dovrefjell and Trollheimen lies the village of Oppdal. Renown for its many ski slopes, nice cross country skiing treks and inviting abundant nature.
Here is a selection of activities Oppdal has to offer during the winter season.
Oppdal has been awarded as one of Norway's best ski destinations for the second year running. With the largest alpine/down hill skiing area in Norway, this is an important part of what the village has to offer during the winter months.
For those who wish to go cross country skiing, there are many fantastic prepared routes for you to choose from. There are treks close to the centre of Oppdal, but also some starting from the ski lifts. You will also find guided mountain tours.
This is the activity for the thrill seeker. You will take the last chair lift to the top of Hovden and sledge down the hill 540 meters height difference.

Here you will find tomorrow's antiquities in ceramic and glass. Many of Benths works are inspired by the nature, snow, ice and the ice cave"Speilsalen" at Trollheimen. The gallery is situated only 5-10 minutes walk from the centre of Oppdal.

Take the trip and see the jeweler at work. In 1995 Fiona came back to her birthplace and started her own business. Today you will find her at her shop and workshop the centre of Oppdal
Frank Smed continues an old forge tradition in handmade products with a personal touch.
Close to the train station in Oppdal you will find a charming gallery where the artist Mali Anette Hoel Witsø works and exhibits. She makes acrylic paintings, drawings with felt tips and pencils and water paintings in her own studio.
After a day full of experiences in Oppdal, you ought to visit Skifer Hotel. On the second floor of the hotel, you will find the Minera Velvære. Here, you can enjoy the adventure shower, foot bath, sauna with a great view of the alpine slopes. Minera Well-Being offers a great selection of SPA treatments. Please book a reservation in advance.
In the Skifer Loung on the first floor, you may enjoy a light meal, a refreshing drink accompanied by good music.
In the restaurant in the Skifer Hotel, you may find tasty dishes made from fresh raw materials from the area in the hotel’s à la carte menu. Our own sommelier and restaurant manager will assist you in selecting the appropriate wines.
A trip on the turistboat Trollheimen II on the Gjevilvatnet Lake in the mountain area Trollheimen is a real adventure. The vessel makes its daily tours from Osen from the beginning of July until the middle of August. From mid August, there are only Sunday trips until the service is discontinued in mid September. Groups may book chartered tours.

A renovated old small farm from which the proprietors sell their own produce based on the farm's own production of herbs. Here, you will find a lot of farm animals, an art exhibition, a farm shop, an antique shop, a garden of herbs of more than 100 different species. Take an airy trip to the top of the Hovden mountain! This is an experience for everyone who has the courage! The Gondola also takes wheelchairs, prams, bicycles, dogs... On the top, you will first and foremost have a magnificent view over the district and the Trollheimen mountains. There are footpaths that are well suited for wheelchairs and prams. Here, you may enjoy a meal in the mountain restaurant and take in the magnificent view protected from the weather! If you want the exercise, you may walk the mountain track downhill.

Opplev Oppdal takes small and big groups down the river Driva daily for normal rafting as of June 1st to August 20th. The total length of the rafting experience is 14 km and it lasts for 3 hours. The age limit is 15/16 years and requires that you are able to swim and of good health. There are also rafting experiences adapted for children and families for which the age limit is 5 years accompanied by an adult. . Oppdal has many and varied opportunities to offer when it comes to bicycling, both for visitors with a "normal" command of bicycling as well as for the expert cyclist. In Oppdal, you may make your way from the centre to beautiful valleys of mountain pasture or to the tracks in the high mountains. Oppdal has about 115 lakes which invite anglers. In most of the lakes, you will find trout and/or char. In addition, there are a number of rivers/streams. The upper part of the salmon and trout river Driva is found in the local community. Sports' dealers and petrol stations sell fishing licenses.
The Oppdal golf course is situated in beautiful surroundings in the Fritidsparken. The course has 9 holes, but in 2001, it was re-sloped to 18 holes in that every hole is played from 2 tees.
